How to flip a coin online

    1. Choose your call, Heads or Tails, or flip without calling.
    2. Press Flip the coin, or tap the coin itself.
    3. The coin spins, lands and shows the result. If you made a call, it tells you if you got it right.

The score board keeps count of heads, tails and the current streak, so you can play best of three or best of five.

Is an online coin toss fair?

Yes. Each flip uses your browser's cryptographic random number generator, so heads and tails each have exactly a 50% chance. Past flips never affect the next one: after five heads in a row, the next flip is still a 50/50 chance. A real coin can be slightly biased by how it is thrown or caught; this one can't.

When to use a coin toss

    • Cricket: the captain who wins the toss chooses to bat or bowl first.
    • Football: decide who kicks off or which end each team defends.
    • Board games: pick who goes first.
    • Everyday decisions: pizza or burgers, movie or series. Notice which side you were hoping for!

Need to split players first? Use the team divider.

    Frequently asked questions

Can I flip more than once?

Yes, as many times as you like. The score board keeps track until you reset it.

What are the odds of getting heads three times in a row?

    One in eight (12.5%). Each flip is 1 in 2, so three in a row is ½ × ½ × ½.

    Does it work offline?

Yes. Once you've opened winisland, the coin toss works without internet.
