How to pick a giveaway winner

1. Copy the names, usernames or emails of everyone who entered, from comments, a form, a spreadsheet or a chat, and paste them in the Entrants box, one per line.
2. Choose how many winners you need. Add backups in case a winner doesn't reply.
3. Keep Count each name once ticked so someone who commented ten times still gets one chance. Untick it only if your rules say every comment is a separate entry.
4. Under Leave out, add your own account and anyone else who can't win.
5. Press Start the draw. Screen-share or go live for the countdown, then take a screenshot or press Copy result to share it.

Getting your list of entries

You don't need to connect your Instagram, YouTube or Facebook account. Copy the entrants from the post on a computer, or export them with the platform's own tools, and paste them here. If the copied text includes extra lines such as “Reply”, dates or like counts, paste it into a spreadsheet first and copy only the column of usernames. Names are matched without capitals or a leading @, so “@Priya” and “priya” count as the same person.

For entries from a form, open the responses as a spreadsheet and copy the name or email column. For a small group, the spin the wheel game is more fun to watch live.

Tips for a fair giveaway

• Write the rules before you start: how to enter, the closing date and time, how many winners, and how long a winner has to reply.
• Close entries before you pick, and don't add anyone afterwards.
• Pick backup winners in the same draw. If a winner doesn't reply in time, offer the prize to backup number 1, then 2, so you never need a second draw.
• Share the result screenshot. It shows the number of entries and the time of the draw, which helps followers trust the result.
• Follow the promotion rules of the platform you run the giveaway on.
