How to use the spin wheel
- Type or paste your entries in the Players box, one per line: names, prizes, dares, places to eat, anything.
- Press the gold SPIN button in the middle of the wheel, or tap anywhere on the wheel.
- The lights chase, the wheel slows down, and the pointer at the top lands on the pick.
- Choose Spin again, or Remove from wheel to take that entry out first. Repeat to pick several winners or to set a running order.
Your entries are saved in this browser, so they are still there next time. Shuffle mixes up the slices and Sort A–Z tidies a long list.
Ideas for the wheel
- Classroom: pick who answers next, or the order for presentations.
- Parties: who goes first, truth or dare prompts, forfeits for party games.
- Home: whose turn it is to do the dishes, what to cook, which film to watch.
- Work: the order for a stand-up meeting, or who chooses the next team lunch.
- Small giveaways: for a few dozen names. For hundreds of entries, use thegiveaway winner picker.
Is the wheel really random?
Yes. When you press Spin, the winner is chosen with your browser's cryptographic random number generator (the Web Crypto API), and every slice has exactly the same chance. The spinning animation then lands on that pick. Nothing about the order of your list, earlier spins or the speed of your device changes the odds.
Frequently asked questions
How many entries can I add?
Up to 500. Labels get small after about 100 entries, but every slice still has the same chance and the winner is always shown in big letters.
Can I give someone a bigger chance?
Yes. Each line is one slice, so a name that appears on two lines has twice the chance. If you want everyone to be equal, check the list for duplicates first.
Is my list private?
Yes. The wheel runs entirely in your browser. Your entries are not sent to us or anyone else; they are only saved on this device so you don't have to type them again.
Does it work without internet?
Yes. After you have opened winisland.in once, the games are stored on your device and keep working offline, which is handy at parties with patchy Wi-Fi. You can also add the site to your home screen.
How do I turn off the sound or the animation?
Tap the speaker button at the top of the page to switch sound effects off. If your phone or computer is set to reduce motion, the wheel skips the long spin and shows the result straight away.
