How to split players into teams
- Type or paste the players, one per line.
- Choose the number of teams, or how many players you want in each team.
- Press Make teams and watch the players get drafted. Team sizes never differ by more than one.
- Not happy? Press Shuffle again. Then Copy teams to paste them in your group chat.
Captains and skill levels
Put a * after a name to make that player a captain, for example Virat *. Captains always go to different teams, one each.
For evenly matched sides, add a skill number from 1 to 10 after a name, like Rohit 8, and tickBalance teams by skill. Players are drafted strongest first, and each one joins the team with the lowest total so far, so the team totals end up close. Players without a number count as 5.
Great for
- Cricket and football: fair sides for a weekend match, then use the coin toss for who bats or kicks off first.
- Quiz nights and party games: split guests into teams in seconds.
- Classrooms: random groups for projects, with no arguments about who picked whom.
- Office events: mix people across departments for team-building games.
Frequently asked questions
Is the team split random?
Yes. Players are shuffled with your browser's cryptographic random number generator before they are drafted, so every split is fair. With skill balancing on, players of equal skill are still placed at random.
What if the players don't divide evenly?
Some teams get one extra player. Sizes never differ by more than one.
How many players and teams can I have?
Up to 200 players and 20 teams.
Is my list saved?
Only in this browser, so your regular group is there next time. Nothing is uploaded.
